Nurturing Citizens of Character
Racial Harmony Day
Evergreen Secondary School celebrated Racial Harmony Day with RAdm (NS) Mr Lui Tuck Yew Minister of State, Ministry of Education. The theme this year is Harmony Talks. We have a range of programmes lined up with the aim of educating our students to strengthen racial harmony through quality conversation. Our programmes are EP games, HDB Racial Integration Policy, Story Telling, Harmony Bazzar and concert performance.
The Emergency Preparedness Centre
We must ourselves defend Singapore. Being a Sinagporean, we all play a part in total defence. We need to be always prepared in times of emergency. The Emergency Preparedness Centre contains information on basic first aid knowledge. We not only educate our students on basic first aid needs, we also conducted family first aid programmes for the parents.
Chinese New Year Hamper Wrapping
Contributing to society is an important value that needs to nutured in every Evgian. Evergreen celebrated Chinese New Year meaningfully this year as we all participated and contributed to the Hamper Wrapping. These hampers are prepared for the elderlys at the Muhammadiyah Welfare Home and the Lion Befrienders. Every Evgian contributed by bring can food, packets of biscuits and many other items that made up the hampers to be delivered to the homes.
Some of the Evgians, got the opportunity to visit the elderlys at the Lion Befrienders. We made house visits to deliver several hampers and even chatted with the elderlys.
School's Green Audit Award - ORCHID AWARD
The Singapore Environment Council (SEC) has been actively promoting its "How Green is Your School". Our school has respond actively to this green auditing programme by carrying out numerous activites to promote the caring of our environment.
Some of our main activities were "Used Paper Collection Drive", "The Can Crusher Project" and "Class Recycling Corner Competition".
With our conscious efforts, we have managed to inculate in the students the sprit of recycling.
